Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the following seminar:
"Approximate computation: trading accuracy with energy saving"
speaker Igor Neri (University of Perugia)
Lecture Hall H, Physics Building
January Wednesday 15, 2014; 3:00 pm
Abstract: Accepting errors during switch operation in logic gates may lead to errors in software computation, however this can decrease the minimum amount of energy required per computation. In this seminar simulated results of sorting algorithms using hardware prone to errors are presented along with models of stochastic logic gates. The computation error is then related to the energy saving in respect to the correct computation assuming to operate the switch at the Landauer limit.
Sincerely Yours,
S. Mancini
