Black, Hot Ice May Be Nature’s Most Common Form of Water - a recent work published on Nature Physics by our former student F. Coppari and coworkers

A new experiment confirms the existence of “superionic ice,” a bizarre form of water that might comprise the bulk of giant icy planets throughout the universe. "We wanted to determine the atomic structure of superionic water”, said LLNL physicist Federica Coppari (see our Alumni list), co-lead author of the paper.
