Abstract: Hyperpure Germanium (HPGe) detectors continue to be a fundamental tool in nuclear gamma spectroscopy. New techniques for the tracking of the gamma interactions, inside the HPGe crystals, are opening a new era in the use of these detectors. In the present work we discuss results on the operation of the tracking techniques and new developments in HPGe detector technologies.
